Subliminal influences have a short shelf life. According to Zimmerman, if we don’t currently have what the subliminal message is attempting to convey, it will not be very effective. Subliminal messaging appears to work best when used to tap into an existing desire. In other words, it could be audible to the conscious mind (but audible to the unconscious or deeper mind), or it could be an image transmitted with a brief but unintentional intention that is consciously or unconsciously perceived. Subliminal messages, as the name implies, are signals or messages designed to pass below the limits of visual perception (sub). However, the few studies that have been conducted suggest that subliminal messages may indeed have an impact on social interactions. Overall, the research on subliminal messages is still quite limited. Another study found that people who were exposed to subliminal messages were more likely to trust others and were more likely to display helpful behavior.
